Role Overview

The Maintenance Officer will play a vital role in ensuring that the hospital’s physical infrastructure, utility systems, and general facilities are kept in optimal working condition. In a healthcare setting, facility uptime is directly linked to patient safety and quality of care. The successful candidate will be responsible for routine inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and swift repairs across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

Facility Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of the hospital premises to identify electrical, plumbing, structural, or mechanical issues before they impact operations.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Perform routine servicing on essential systems including backup generators, water supply installations, lighting, and air conditioning units.
Equipment Monitoring: Support the safe functioning of auxiliary facility equipment, collaborating with specialized external technicians when necessary.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to safety standards, keeping walkways, patient wards, and administrative areas hazard-free.
Resource Management: Keep an accurate inventory of maintenance tools, spare parts, and supplies, initiating procurement requests in a timely manner.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education: Relevant technical certifications, OND, HND, or vocational training in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Technology, or a related field.
Experience: Practical hands-on experience in facility maintenance or estate management. Prior experience working in a medical center, hospital, or hospitality setting is highly valued.
Technical Competency: Solid understanding of electrical wiring, plumbing networks, generator operations, and minor carpentry/masonry repairs.
Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, high physical stamina, reliability, and the ability to respond swiftly to emergency maintenance calls.
