Overview
If you love pushing the boundaries of what artificial intelligence can do and want to work directly with top tier AI research labs, this opportunity with Mercor might just be your next big move. Backed by industry heavyweights like Peter Thiel and Benchmark, Mercor bridges the gap between elite tech talent and the most advanced labs in the world. They are currently looking for a talented Machine Learning Engineer to join a fully remote team operating worldwide. You will dive deep into evaluating cutting edge AI systems while earning up to $85 per hour on a contract basis.
Key Responsibilities
Your main focus will be working with frontier AI coding agents to handle and evaluate challenging machine learning tasks. You will examine model generated code covering everything from model training and inference systems to MLOps and complex LLM applications. Spotting bugs, catching subtle edge cases, and analyzing performance bottlenecks will be part of your daily routine. You will also compare outputs across different frontier models to determine their unique strengths and weaknesses, applying your real world engineering judgment every step of the way.
Requirements
To thrive in this role, you need at least two years of professional machine learning engineering experience under your belt. You should bring a solid background in building production ready ML systems, setting up model deployment infrastructure, and developing LLM applications or AI powered products. Familiarity with daily developer workflows involving AI coding assistants like Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, or similar tools is an absolute must.
What You'll Gain
Working in this role gives you a front row seat to the future of software development and artificial intelligence. You will collaborate with brilliant minds, sharpen your expertise in evaluating frontier models, and enjoy the ultimate flexibility of working remotely from anywhere in the world.
