Job Summary

The successful candidate will play a critical role in installing, maintaining, and repairing fibre optic cables and communication systems. You will be responsible for ensuring optimal network performance, minimizing downtime, and providing a rapid, efficient response to service disruptions.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, your daily activities and long-term responsibilities will include:

Installation & Maintenance: Installing, maintaining, and repairing fibre optic cables, lines, and communication systems.
Fault Diagnosis: Troubleshooting and diagnosing network faults, and replacing damaged or obsolete fibre infrastructure.
Routine Inspections: Carrying out scheduled maintenance checks and routine inspections to prevent service downtime.
Emergency Response: Responding swiftly to network failures, disruptions, and emergency repair situations.
Collaboration: Working closely with external vendors, key partners, and customer service teams to resolve technical challenges promptly.
Documentation: Generating and maintaining accurate system records, technical reports, and field documentation.
Equipment Operation: Safely and efficiently operating specialized power tools and technical equipment.
Safety Compliance: Adhering strictly to all occupational health, safety standards, and operational guidelines.
Field Operations: Comfortably performing tasks at significant heights (up to 40–50 feet) and in varying outdoor environments.

Requirements & Qualifications

To succeed in this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Education: National Diploma (ND) or NABTEB in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical field.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience in fibre optics installation, telecommunications, or power distribution.
Technical Competence: Direct, practical experience in modern fibre optic installations and troubleshooting.
Physical Capability: Comfort and ability to work at heights of up to 40–50 feet and perform physical tasks outdoors.
Analytical Skills: Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and analytical capabilities.
Soft Skills: Excellent teamwork skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
