We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Domain Expert to join our team on a contract basis. This is a fully remote, worldwide opportunity where your expertise will be compensated at an excellent rate, ranging from $76 to $120 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

As a Legal Domain Expert, your primary focus will be on ensuring the utmost accuracy and validity of legal research. Your day-to-day will involve:

Meticulously confirming that every case, statute, and regulation cited remains good law, paying close attention to any negative Shepard's treatment.
Diligently identifying non-existent or misdescribed cases, verifying quotes, holdings, and pinpoint citations with precision.
Assessing completeness by ensuring all controlling authority is discovered and relevant, on-point cases are thoroughly accounted for. You will also maintain distinct documentation for 50-state and multi-jurisdiction splits.
Validating currency by confirming the correct version of the law in force on the operative date for all references.
Clearly distinguishing between binding and persuasive authority, adhering to a strict verify-before-finalize protocol for all your work.

Requirements

To excel in this critical role, we are looking for candidates who possess the following essential qualifications:

Extensive Lexis+ Usage: You must have frequent experience using Lexis+ for substantive legal research in your current or a very recent professional role, ideally on a weekly or more frequent basis.
Professional Legal Research Experience: A minimum of two years of dedicated professional legal research experience is required.
Shepard's/KeyCite Proficiency: You should have a reflexive understanding and application of Shepard's or KeyCite, enabling you to instinctively identify a problematic citation or a misstated holding.
