Overview

Key Responsibilities

Lead the technical design and architecture of complex, end-to-end scalable machine learning systems and applications.
Guide and oversee program inception phases, laying the foundational roadmap for new ML system and application development.
Engage in hands-on coding, contributing directly to critical components and setting high standards for code quality and maintainability.
Shape the strategic direction of machine learning engineering initiatives, both within Thoughtworks and for our clients.
Advocate for and implement modern architectural patterns, MLOps best practices, and innovative technologies to ensure system robustness and efficiency.
Mentor and guide fellow engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, technical excellence, and collaborative problem-solving.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data scientists, and other engineers, to translate business requirements into impactful ML solutions.
Ensure the successful delivery of high-stakes projects, driving impactful outcomes for our clients and Thoughtworks.

Requirements

Extensive proven experience in machine learning engineering, with a significant portion of that in a lead or architect role, successfully delivering production-grade ML systems.
Deep expertise in designing, building, and deploying scalable, end-to-end machine learning solutions.
Strong proficiency in programming languages commonly used in ML, such as Python, along with experience with relevant ML frameworks and libraries.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and a solid understanding of MLOps practices, CI/CD for ML, and distributed systems.
Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, mentor engineers, and drive consensus on complex technical decisions.
Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
A strategic mindset, with the ability to foresee technical challenges and proactively devise solutions.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a closely related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
