Role Overview: Land Development Officer

The Land Development Officer role is critical to the company's agricultural expansion and optimization projects. In this position, you will utilize your deep understanding of agricultural mechanization to oversee vital land development operations. You will collaborate closely with the Land Development Manager to ensure precision in processes such as ploughing, harrowing, GPS leveling, auto-guided ridging, and mechanical covering.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

As a Land Development Officer at Dangote, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Operational Coordination: Overseeing and coordinating all automated land development activities, including ploughing, harrowing, GPS leveling, and drip-in section ridging.
Maintenance & Fuel Management: Coordinating workshop activities for machinery breakdown, scheduled maintenance, and efficient fueling.
Performance Monitoring: Tracking the execution and performance of operators and machinery to ensure operations align with strict project timelines.
Stakeholder Communication: Maintaining smooth and effective communication lines between workshops, external partners, and the Land Development Manager.
Labor Management: Managing field labor, addressing disputes, and resolving changes in project scope in conjunction with management.
Record Keeping & Reporting: Keeping organized documentation of all land development activities, and providing detailed reports on project progress, deliverables, and performance metrics to management.

Educational Qualification and Experience

To succeed in this role, you must meet the following criteria:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Mechanical Engineering, Surveying, or a closely related agricultural discipline.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in land development operations, specifically land preparation for agriculture and irrigation systems.

Required Skills and Competencies

The ideal candidate should possess:

In-depth knowledge of agricultural mechanization standards (such as GPS-guided systems for leveling, harrowing, and ridging).
Strong ability to interpret survey terminology and field designs, especially GPS-leveling layouts.
Resource management skills to supervise labor and machinery effectively, minimizing budget overshoots.
Outstanding attention to detail and the capability to manage multiple operational timelines concurrently.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) for reporting and documentation.
The resilience to work and thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
