About the Role: Ink Matcher / Ink Technician

As an Ink Matcher / Ink Technician, you will be the cornerstone of color precision and consistency. Your expertise will be crucial in preparing, formulating, and meticulously matching inks to exacting customer specifications. This role demands a keen eye for color, a deep understanding of ink systems, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of print quality and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Formulation & Matching: Accurately formulate, mix, and match inks in strict accordance with customer requirements and production specifications.
Color Accuracy: Ensure precise color matching using approved standards, Pantone references, and customer-provided samples.
Parameter Control: Monitor and adjust ink viscosity, density, and other critical technical parameters to achieve optimal print quality and performance.
Production Support: Provide essential support to printing operations by ensuring the timely availability of prepared inks for production runs.
Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough color verification and quality checks throughout the entire production process to maintain consistency.
Troubleshooting: Proactively identify and resolve color inconsistencies, recommending and implementing effective corrective actions.
Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous and detailed records of all ink formulations, batch numbers, and color recipes.
Inventory Management: Efficiently manage ink inventory, ensuring proper storage, handling, and disposal of inks, solvents, and additives.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with Printing Operators, Production Supervisors, and Quality Control personnel to swiftly resolve any production-related issues.
Compliance & Optimization: Ensure strict compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental standards, and actively contribute to cost optimization initiatives by minimizing ink wastage.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in and contribute to continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing overall print quality and operational efficiency.

Who We Are Looking For (Requirements)

We are searching for a dedicated professional who brings a strong technical background and practical experience to this critical role. The ideal candidate will possess:

Educational Background: An OND, HND, or Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Printing Technology, or a closely related discipline.
Experience: 3 – 5 years of proven experience as an Ink Matcher, Ink Technician, Colorist, or a similar role within a flexible packaging, printing, or manufacturing environment.
Printing Process Expertise: Essential hands-on experience with gravure and/or flexographic printing processes.
Ink System Knowledge: Practical experience with both solvent-based and water-based ink systems.
Substrate Familiarity: Familiarity with flexible packaging substrates such as BOPP, PET, PE, CPP, and Foil materials.
Technical Acumen: Strong knowledge of color theory, advanced ink formulation, and precise color matching techniques.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional color vision and an unwavering attention to detail are paramount.
Tool Proficiency: Ability to effectively use color measurement and quality control tools.
Problem-Solving: Robust analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges.
