The Role

As our HSE Officer, you will be the driving force behind a culture of safety across our offices and operational sites. You will be instrumental in identifying potential hazards, implementing mitigation strategies, and ensuring that our operations align with both local regulations and international best practices. This is a critical role for someone passionate about risk management and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Policy Implementation: Develop, monitor, and enforce HSE policies to ensure a safe work environment.
Risk Management: Conduct regular workplace inspections, risk assessments, and develop effective hazard mitigation plans.
Compliance: Liaise with regulatory bodies, support audits, and ensure all operations meet Nigerian HSE legal requirements.
Incident Management: Lead investigations into accidents and near misses to perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
Training & Awareness: Facilitate safety inductions, toolbox talks, and emergency drills to foster a safety-first culture.
Contractor Oversight: Monitor contractor performance, ensure safety certification compliance, and uphold PPE standards.
Environmental Stewardship: Oversee waste management and promote sustainability initiatives across our facilities.
Reporting: Maintain detailed logs and provide data-driven insights through weekly and monthly KPI dashboards.

Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or HND (minimum Second Class Upper or Distinction) in Environmental Management, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, Sciences, or a related field.
3–5 years of professional experience in HSE, specifically within the Telecommunications, ICT, Infrastructure, or Construction sectors.
Demonstrated expertise in infrastructure deployment, FTTH operations, and contractor safety management.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Physically fit for field inspections and willing to travel to project sites.
Ability to work flexibly, including outside normal business hours during critical incidents.
