Role Overview
As our HSE Officer, you will be the backbone of our safety operations. You will be tasked with developing, implementing, and maintaining robust health, safety, and environmental systems across all our construction projects. Your objective is to safeguard our employees, subcontractors, and the public while ensuring our operations remain in full compliance with Nigerian and international safety legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Health and Safety Management: Lead the enforcement of safety policies, conduct rigorous site audits, and investigate all incidents to prevent future occurrences.
- Environmental Stewardship: Manage waste practices, ensure sustainability in construction, and mitigate environmental risks on-site.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain meticulous documentation, manage permits, and act as the primary liaison during regulatory inspections.
- Safety Culture Advocacy: Champion safety awareness initiatives, ensuring that every member of the team—from site laborers to senior management—is actively engaged in maintaining a safe work culture.
Qualifications & Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of professional experience, ideally within the construction or infrastructure sector.
- A valid NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) is mandatory.
- Professional certifications such as ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 Lead Auditor status are highly preferred.
- OSHA Professional Certification and current First Aid/CPR training.
- Strong interpersonal skills and membership in professional bodies like ISPON or IOSH.
