Overview

We need a Head of Data Science to build our data science department completely from scratch. Because of our unique Merchant of Record model, we sit on a goldmine of data that traditional payment providers simply cannot access. You will see subscription contexts, pricing details, and granular payment outcomes across thousands of businesses. Your mission is to turn all of that information into real economic power by launching machine learning and agentic systems directly into production.

This is a fully remote role that you can do from anywhere in the world.

Key Responsibilities

Build and scale Paddle's data science function from day one.
Drive automated decisioning inside our core product rather than just building dashboards for decision support.
Design, deploy, and maintain traditional machine learning models and advanced agentic systems.
Translate massive amounts of subscription and payment data into tangible economic value.
Collaborate with engineering and product teams to integrate models seamlessly into the user experience.

Requirements

Proven track record of building and leading data science functions in high growth environments.
Deep expertise in putting machine learning models and agentic systems into production.
Strong background in turning complex, large scale data sets into automated product features.
Ability to thrive with a narrow, ambitious mandate focused strictly on automated product decisioning.
