Overview

Our mission at Thumbtack is clear: make home care effortless and empowering. The Business Applications team is central to this mission, creating and maintaining the internal systems that power our operations at scale. This includes critical Salesforce-centered workflows, essential admin tooling, and seamless integrations that connect teams across the company. We're now significantly expanding this foundation into a powerful internal platform for AI-enabled work. This means developing shared APIs, establishing reusable integration patterns, and building safe, auditable capabilities for all business-critical actions. You will work hand-in-hand with our business teams, transforming their complex operational challenges into streamlined, scalable, and intelligent software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design and build scalable full-stack applications and APIs that power our internal AI platform and integrate with core business systems.
Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs, translate complex requirements into technical specifications, and deliver effective software solutions.
Develop and maintain robust integration patterns connecting diverse internal and external systems, ensuring data integrity and seamless workflows.
Contribute to the architectural evolution of our internal AI platform, focusing on security, auditability, and ease of extension.
Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code across the stack, from front-end interfaces to back-end services and databases.
Champion best practices in software development, including code reviews, testing strategies, and continuous integration/delivery.
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to peers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.

Requirements

Demonstrable experience as a Full-Stack Engineer with a strong understanding of modern web technologies and architectural patterns.
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Go, Java, or Ruby, and experience with related frameworks.
Solid understanding of front-end development using frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and working with relational or NoSQL databases.
Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
A passion for building internal tools and platforms that empower business users.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
Proven ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment, demonstrating strong communication and collaboration skills.
