About the Role
Healthcare is messy. Nurses carry the heaviest load in our entire medical system yet they rely on broken spreadsheets and outdated shared drives to track their professional growth and clinical excellence. At Clera, we are changing that reality. We are building the definitive system of record for nursing excellence and helping major health systems retain top talent while improving patient care. As our Founding Full Stack Engineer, you will step in right at the ground floor. You are not just writing code here. You will shape the entire architecture, define our technical culture, and build products that touch thousands of healthcare workers every single day. If you want high ownership and a chance to tackle a massive problem in a deeply underserved vertical, this is your moment. Please note that this is a fully remote position available to candidates located worldwide.
Overview
We need a builder who thrives in ambiguity and loves turning complex requirements into clean, scalable software. Working directly with the founding team, you will take charge of four integrated SaaS products covering everything from digital clinical ladders to ANCC designation management. You will design robust data models and weave cutting edge AI workflows into the daily routines of clinical professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Take total ownership of end-to-end architecture while shipping reliable production features across our complete suite of SaaS products.
- Architect complex data models and backend services tailored for multi-hospital and multi-unit healthcare organizations.
- Develop intelligent AI workflows that assist with exemplar writing, document retrieval, and evidence organization.
- Establish engineering best practices and maintain high standards for security and HIPAA compliance from day one.
Requirements
- Extensive experience building and scaling production grade SaaS applications as a full stack engineer.
- Deep understanding of modern backend services and thoughtful database architecture.
- A strong bias for action and the ability to operate autonomously in an early stage startup environment.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
What You'll Gain
You will earn a competitive equity stake and a front row seat to company building alongside experienced founders. Your work will directly impact nurses and healthcare systems who desperately need better tools. You will enjoy complete remote flexibility and the creative freedom to build products the right way.
