Position Overview: Field Service Engineer (Solar Energy)

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be a critical pillar in Jaza Energy’s mission to ensure uninterrupted energy uptime. This pivotal role involves managing technical operations, swiftly resolving issues, and maintaining robust technical systems at a regional level to guarantee optimal energy availability at our hubs and sites. Given our rapid expansion, this position requires significant travel within Nigeria.

You will take ownership of energy uptime, proactively optimize system performance, expertly troubleshoot and repair technical issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Your contributions will involve data analysis, comprehensive reporting, and collaborative efforts to enhance our energy infrastructure.

We are seeking an individual with a strong technical and engineering background, capable of multitasking, demonstrating initiative, and excelling in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure maximum energy uptime and power availability at various sites by diligently monitoring systems and promptly diagnosing and resolving technical challenges.
Support the seamless setup of new energy hubs, confirm their connectivity, and perform routine maintenance on hub energy systems. This may involve both on-site travel and remote troubleshooting.
Oversee the precise installation and configuration of solar panels, intricate electrical wiring, and all associated equipment.
Collaborate effectively with Jaza Stars (local agents) and the data team to diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges.
Meticulously document all field activities and maintain accurate inventory records for hub equipment and product components.
Prepare regular, detailed reports on hub health and other pertinent technical issues, submitting them to the Regional Service Engineer.

Qualifications

Demonstrated expertise and a deep understanding of installing or ensuring the uptime of energy systems, ideally encompassing both diesel and solar systems.
A minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on technical or engineering experience within the telecommunications/energy industry or related sectors. We prioritize practical experience over specific educational backgrounds.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to identify and implement effective solutions to complex technical challenges.
Strong commitment to safety and strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards.
Proficiency with data analysis tools and reporting software, including the MS Office suite and Google products.
Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
