Role Overview
As a Field Engineer at inq., you will play a critical role in installing, maintaining, and optimizing network infrastructure. You will work on-site to ensure optimal service delivery, handle emergency fault resolutions, and collaborate directly with clients, vendors, and internal engineering teams to maintain high-quality network operations.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will oversee various facets of field operations and network engineering, structured around the following key areas:
- Network & Service Operations: Install and configure network equipment at customer sites and Points of Presence (POPs). Perform both preventive and corrective maintenance across wireless and fiber networks. Promptly respond to fault tickets issued by the NOC/CSOC, ensure timely resolution, and document root causes.
- Deployment & Support: Conduct technical site surveys, feasibility assessments, and customer link activations. Execute hardware replacements, software upgrades, and patch management on active network devices while providing reliable on-site troubleshooting.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate logs of all installations, maintenance routines, and fault resolutions. Prepare and submit timely reports including field visit logs, timesheets, and expense documentation.
- Vendor & Customer Engagement: Work closely with external infrastructure providers (tower and fiber vendors) and contractors. Interact professionally with clients to deliver status updates, answer technical queries, and ensure operational excellence.
- Quality Assurance & Safety: Conduct quality checks across all technical installations and support duties. Strictly adhere to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) guidelines and ensure the continuous use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during field assignments.
Qualifications and Experience
To be eligible for this position, applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Experience: 2–4 years of hands-on experience in telecom field engineering, preferably within an ISP or service provider context.
- Technical Skills: Practical knowledge of microwave, fiber optics, BTS, and access networks. Solid understanding of IP networking principles, networking tools, and RF alignment equipment.
- Key Competencies: Ability to interpret technical diagrams, layouts, and schematics. Strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting capabilities. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Flexibility: Willingness to travel to various field locations and work extended hours whenever required.
Working Relationships
In this position, you will report directly to the Head of Operations and collaborate with internal units such as NOC, CSOC, Engineering, and Service Delivery. Externally, you will represent inq. when engaging with clients, infrastructure vendors, and field contractors.
