Overview

As a Field CTO, you will serve as a strategic technical advisor and an inspiring evangelist for the GitLab platform. You will engage with executive leaders and technical teams at our most strategic customers and prospects, helping them architect comprehensive solutions that leverage GitLab's intelligent orchestration capabilities for DevSecOps. Our platform empowers organizations to dramatically increase developer productivity, enhance operational efficiency, mitigate security and compliance risks, and accelerate their digital journey. You will be a key driver in these transformations, showcasing how over 50 million registered users and more than 50% of the Fortune 100* trust GitLab to ship better, more secure software faster. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Technical Guidance: Act as a trusted advisor to C-suite executives and senior technical leaders, providing expert guidance on DevSecOps strategies and digital transformation initiatives.
Solution Architecture & Vision: Develop and articulate innovative architectural solutions that solve complex business challenges using the full breadth of the GitLab platform.
Thought Leadership: Drive industry thought leadership through presentations at major conferences, publishing technical papers, and actively participating in global technical communities.
Internal & External Enablement: Mentor and educate internal sales, customer success, and product teams, while also enabling customer teams on best practices and emerging trends.
Product & Market Influence: Synthesize customer feedback and market insights, collaborating directly with product management and engineering to influence future platform development.
AI Integration & Evangelism: Champion the adoption of AI tools and methodologies within customer organizations and demonstrate how AI enhances efficiency and innovation across DevSecOps workflows.
Partnership Development: Foster strong relationships with key technology partners and alliances to expand the reach and capabilities of the GitLab ecosystem.

Requirements

Extensive professional background in software development, architecture, or a technical leadership role, demonstrating a deep understanding of the entire software development lifecycle.
Proven experience as a Field CTO, Chief Architect, or a similar strategic customer-facing technical position, ideally within a rapidly growing enterprise software company.
Profound expertise in DevSecOps principles, cloud native architectures, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and modern application development practices.
Exceptional ability to communicate, articulate complex technical concepts, and build strong relationships with both executive-level decision-makers and highly technical practitioners.
A track record of driving significant digital transformation initiatives within large, complex organizations.
Superior presentation skills and a history of engaging public speaking engagements that showcase industry thought leadership.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, fully remote, and highly collaborative global environment.
