As the Facilities Manager, you will play a critical role in preserving, maintaining, and enhancing the physical infrastructure of the university. This position requires a proactive leader capable of overseeing campus utilities, structural maintenance, and engineering systems to ensure a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the preventative and corrective maintenance of all university buildings, grounds, and infrastructure.
- Supervise electrical, mechanical, civil, and plumbing systems across the campus.
- Manage external contractors and technicians to ensure quality and timely delivery of maintenance projects.
- Develop and implement safety protocols, ensuring the university meets all regulatory environmental and construction standards.
- Optimize energy consumption and manage water and power supply systems on campus.
- Coordinate space planning and assist in capital development projects as the university expands.
Required Qualifications and Experience
To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate strong technical expertise and leadership capabilities. The ideal candidate must possess:
- A good Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Electrical Engineering from a recognized University, OR a Higher National Diploma (HND) in a related engineering discipline from a recognized Institution.
- Proven working experience in facilities management, estate maintenance, or project management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- The capacity to work under pressure and manage emergency maintenance tasks effectively.
