About the Role: Shaping Policy and Partnerships
The External Relations and Advocacy Advisor will be instrumental in supporting the execution of MSI's External Relations and Advocacy strategy, operating within the Chief Executive Office and collaborating closely with our fundraising and communications departments. This dynamic role is crucial in ensuring MSI effectively influences global policy and funding decisions, positioning us as a generous and strategic partner to governments, donors, and the broader sector.
Your contributions will span various critical areas:
- Advocacy & Thought Leadership: Contributing to MSI's advocacy efforts, sharing political and situational analysis, evidence, and data to inform and influence stakeholders.
- Fundraising & Partner Engagement: Supporting initiatives that strengthen relationships with key sector and donor stakeholders.
- Communications & Events: Assisting in the design and coordination of MSI's external representation in pivotal sector spaces, enhancing our visibility, reputation, and influence in global and regional forums.
This external-facing and strategic component will constitute approximately 60% of the role, allowing you to significantly impact MSI's global reach and influence.
Additionally, the role includes a strong operational component (approximately 40%) vital for the smooth functioning of the team's work. Responsibilities will include:
- Managing reporting processes and timelines.
- Building and managing budgets, alongside raising and tracking purchase orders.
- Coordinating travel and logistics for team members and events.
- Providing essential support for events and conferences.
- Collaborating across internal functions such as finance, operations, donor compliance, and IT.
