This group expertly manages our Kubernetes clusters, AWS infrastructure, PostgreSQL databases, CI systems, and the entire observability stack, alongside the essential reliability practices that underpin it all.

Key Responsibilities

As an Engineering Manager for SRE, your contributions will directly shape the reliability and scalability of Remote's platform. Your key responsibilities include:

Lead and Mentor: Inspire, guide, and grow a high-performing team of SREs, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Strategic Vision: Develop and execute the SRE roadmap, aligning team efforts with overall company objectives for product stability and performance.
Architectural Oversight: Provide technical leadership and guidance on the design, implementation, and maintenance of our core infrastructure. This includes Kubernetes, AWS, PostgreSQL, and our CI/CD pipelines.
Reliability Engineering: Drive the adoption and implementation of best practices for site reliability, incident response, postmortems, and preventative measures.
Observability Champion: Oversee the development and enhancement of our monitoring, logging, and alerting systems, ensuring comprehensive visibility into system health.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product engineering teams, security, and other stakeholders to integrate reliability into every stage of the development lifecycle.
Automation and AI: Champion the use of automation and artificial intelligence to streamline operations, predict potential issues, and enhance system efficiency.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you will bring a strong blend of technical expertise and leadership acumen. We are looking for someone with:

Proven Leadership: Significant experience managing and leading SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering teams.
Deep Technical Acumen: Extensive hands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS. You should also possess expertise in container orchestration using Kubernetes and database management, specifically PostgreSQL.
Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools and principles.
CI/CD Expertise: Strong understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines and related tools.
Observability Tools: Experience with modern observability stacks, including monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions.
Incident Management: Demonstrated experience with incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews.
Problem-Solving Prowess: An analytical mindset, capable of tackling complex technical challenges with innovative solutions.
Exceptional Communication: The ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
