The Role: Drilling Engineer / Specialist I
As a Drilling Engineer / Specialist I, you will play a pivotal role in the engineering planning, design, surveillance, and follow-up of drilling and completion programs. Your primary objective will be to ensure that well objectives are met with the highest standards of engineering integrity, safety, and environmental protection. This position demands a meticulous approach, strong technical skills, and a commitment to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities & Impact
Your contributions will be vital to the success of our drilling operations, encompassing a broad range of critical tasks:
- Strategic Planning & Design: You will be responsible for researching and understanding drill well hazards by reviewing historical offset well information, utilizing wellbore geologic and reservoir objectives to develop comprehensive well plans, and preparing accurate cost estimates for various well design options.
- Resource Management: Identifying and organizing all necessary equipment for the drill well plan, including meticulous material selection, will be a core part of your role.
- Regulatory Compliance: Design wells to consistently meet all regulatory requirements, ensuring operations are fully compliant and secure.
- Procurement & Analysis: Prepare and meticulously analyze technical bids for goods and services, contributing to efficient and cost-effective project execution.
- Operational Oversight: Provide diligent surveillance of daily operations, offering critical rig site drilling and completion surveillance, and engineering assessments of critical activities.
- Technical Support: Offer surveillance and technical assistance for projects, equipment testing, and the implementation of new procedures.
- Collaborative Approach: Interface effectively with operations personnel to ensure well plans are feasible and solicit their valuable input. You will also work closely with other functions such as geology, reservoir, and projects to ensure programs are based on all available information and meet well objectives.
- Deepwater Expertise (if applicable): Depending on the program, deepwater experience, including knowledge of subsea systems, riser analysis, and subsea well control systems, may be a crucial requirement.
Who We're Looking For
We are seeking a candidate who embodies technical proficiency, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving:
- Educational Background: A B.Sc. Degree in Engineering or a related technical field is essential.
- Industry Experience: Proven industry experience with well planning and execution is required.
- Deepwater Experience: If filling a deepwater drilling engineering position, relevant experience in deepwater drilling operations is necessary.
- Technical Acumen: Proficiency with well design software and Microsoft applications is expected.
- Communication Skills: The ability to effectively organize and communicate thoughts, coupled with fluent English language skills (read, write, and speak), is paramount.
