Key Responsibilities

Define and execute the technical vision and strategy for Monzo's European expansion, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
Lead, mentor, and grow multiple high-performing engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and psychological safety.
Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable, reliable, and secure banking infrastructure and products tailored for European markets.
Collaborate closely with product, design, operations, compliance, and legal teams to deliver seamless and compliant financial solutions.
Drive architectural decisions and best practices, ensuring our systems are robust, efficient, and ready for rapid growth across diverse regulatory landscapes.

Requirements

Extensive proven experience in an Engineering Director or similar senior leadership role, ideally within a fast-growing, product-led technology company.
Demonstrated success in building, scaling, and leading distributed engineering teams to deliver complex, high-impact products.
Deep understanding of modern software architecture, distributed systems, and cloud-native technologies, with a strong background in backend development.
