The Role: Engineer on Bike (Field Service)

As an Engineer on Bike, you will be part of Mikano's agile Field Service team. Utilizing a motorcycle to quickly navigate traffic and respond to urgent call-outs, you will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing diesel generators and related mechanical equipment directly at customer locations. This role is perfect for a self-motivated individual who values safety, hands-on problem solving, and exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs on diesel generators and related equipment.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance.
Conduct routine inspections and identify potential mechanical issues before they lead to equipment failure.
Respond promptly to field service calls and customer breakdown requests.
Prepare accurate service reports, repair logs, and maintenance documentation.
Communicate equipment faults, repair recommendations, and maintenance requirements to customers.
Provide cost estimates and repair quotations where required.
Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and assigned motorcycle in good working condition.
Ensure proper storage and handling of tools and equipment after use.
Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe at all times.
Comply with all company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
Carry out any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Trade Test Certificate, OND, HND, or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Minimum of 3 years' hands-on experience working with a reputable generator servicing or power solutions company.
Strong knowledge of diesel generators, engines, and mechanical systems.
Experience in field service engineering is an added advantage.
Excellent troubleshooting and fault-diagnosis skills.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Strong reporting and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
Valid motorcycle rider's licence is an added advantage.
