The Role: Engineer on Bike (Field Service)
As an Engineer on Bike, you will be part of Mikano's agile Field Service team. Utilizing a motorcycle to quickly navigate traffic and respond to urgent call-outs, you will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing diesel generators and related mechanical equipment directly at customer locations. This role is perfect for a self-motivated individual who values safety, hands-on problem solving, and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs on diesel generators and related equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Conduct routine inspections and identify potential mechanical issues before they lead to equipment failure.
- Respond promptly to field service calls and customer breakdown requests.
- Prepare accurate service reports, repair logs, and maintenance documentation.
- Communicate equipment faults, repair recommendations, and maintenance requirements to customers.
- Provide cost estimates and repair quotations where required.
- Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and assigned motorcycle in good working condition.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of tools and equipment after use.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe at all times.
- Comply with all company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Trade Test Certificate, OND, HND, or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years' hands-on experience working with a reputable generator servicing or power solutions company.
- Strong knowledge of diesel generators, engines, and mechanical systems.
- Experience in field service engineering is an added advantage.
- Excellent troubleshooting and fault-diagnosis skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Strong reporting and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Valid motorcycle rider's licence is an added advantage.
