The Opportunity: Electrical Engineer

As an Electrical Engineer at Dumez Nigeria, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of electrical installations on our diverse construction sites. Your expertise will be crucial in translating designs into reality, maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise Electrical Installation Works: Oversee and direct all electrical installation activities on construction sites, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
  • Review and Coordinate Shop Drawings: Critically review and coordinate electrical shop drawings, identifying potential clashes and ensuring seamless integration with other building services.
  • Prepare Material Take-offs and BOQs: Accurately calculate and prepare material take-offs and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for electrical components.
  • Ensure Compliance: Guarantee that all installations strictly comply with project specifications, relevant national, and international electrical standards.
  • Inter-disciplinary Coordination: Collaborate effectively with mechanical, architectural, and structural teams to ensure cohesive project delivery.
  • Subcontractor Supervision: Manage and supervise subcontractors, monitoring their work quality and progress to meet project benchmarks.
  • Conduct Inspections and Testing: Perform thorough inspections and rigorous testing of electrical systems to confirm functionality, safety, and performance.
  • Reporting: Compile and submit comprehensive daily and weekly progress reports, keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Resolve Technical Issues: Actively participate in site meetings, proactively addressing and resolving any technical issues related to electrical systems.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Uphold and enforce stringent health and safety regulations on-site at all times.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a dedicated professional with a solid foundation in electrical engineering and practical experience in construction environments:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience specifically in building construction projects.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of Low Voltage (LV) electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarm systems, data networks, CCTV, and other Extra-Low Voltage (ELV) systems.
  • Drawing Interpretation: Proven ability to accurately read, interpret, and work from complex electrical drawings.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of Revit is considered a significant advantage.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
  • Work Ethic: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong organizational skills to meet tight project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on hotels, commercial buildings, or high-rise projects.
