The Role and Key Responsibilities
The primary purpose of the Electrical - Automation Manager is to manage the distribution of power systems, oversee all electrical and automated instrumentation processes, and ensure the seamless functionality of all factory machinery to achieve peak production efficiency.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- System Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose and resolve complex electrical and automation faults in machinery with minimal downtime. Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to prevent recurring issues.
- Automation System Management: Resolve PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), VFD (Variable Frequency Drive), and SCADA system issues to maintain continuous operations.
- Industrial Communication Protocols: Manage and optimize factory-wide automated systems and industrial communication protocols, specifically Profibus and Ethernet.
- Maintenance Planning & Coordination: Coordinate and schedule preventive maintenance, repairs, servicing, and replacement of critical electrical/automation components to sustain optimum plant performance.
- Leadership & Supervision: Assign and supervise daily tasks for electrical supervisors and technicians, fostering a high-performance culture on the factory floor.
- KPI Tracking: Monitor and report key engineering indicators, including Equipment Availability, Downtime, MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), MTTR (Mean Time to Repair), OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), and specific power consumption.
- Utility & Compliance Oversight: Utilize a strong understanding of utility equipment (such as compressors, electric pumps, valves, and fire hydrants) and ensure strict compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) rules, QMS (Quality Management System), and FSMS (Food Safety Management System) standards. Ensure timely completion of all CAPA-related projects.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements
To be considered for this leadership role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education: BSc or HND in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Certification: Formal certification in Programming Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Work Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of cognate, hands-on experience in industrial electrical/automation roles.
- Added Advantages: Prior experience in Automated Mills and an active COREN Membership are highly desirable.
