As an Editorial Intern at ONC, you'll be an indispensable part of our mission to provide nonpartisan news, opinions, and policy solutions. Our Editorial Desk is the final guardian of quality, ensuring everything ONC produces meets the highest standards before it reaches our readers. This means you will be one of the last sets of eyes on a diverse range of content. You could be working on anything from in-depth books and policy proposals to concise op-eds and our regular newsletters. This is a fully remote, worldwide opportunity, allowing you to contribute from wherever you are.
Key Responsibilities
- Meticulously correct grammatical, spelling, and stylistic errors in all ONC written content.
- Conduct thorough fact-checking to ensure accuracy and prevent any misstatements in our publications.
- Collaborate closely with our Policy Content Writers and various teams across the organization.
- Maintain consistent and clear communication with the Editorial Team Lead and Managing Editor regarding project statuses and deadlines.
- Potentially gain experience operating the backend of our website to review and approve external writer submissions.
Requirements
- Exceptional understanding of English grammar, punctuation, and major style guides (e.g., AP, Chicago).
- A meticulous eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to accuracy.
- Proven research and fact-checking abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
