Overview

Cision is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Web Platform & Engineering to take the helm of our global web engineering capability. This is a fully remote, worldwide opportunity, inviting leaders from across the globe to contribute their expertise. You will own Cision’s overarching web platform, playing a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of our digital presence. This leadership position involves guiding a blended team of internal and external engineers, collaborating extensively with colleagues in Brand, Growth, Content, Product Marketing, and across our Technology division. Your primary mission will be to ensure Cision’s entire web estate achieves technical excellence, drives commercial effectiveness, and remains perfectly aligned with our broader business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Web Platform Leadership: Define and drive the technical vision and roadmap for Cision's global web platform, ensuring it supports business objectives and marketing initiatives.
Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, mentor, and lead a high performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement, encompassing both in house staff and external partners.
Technical Excellence & Governance: Establish and enforce best practices for web development, architecture, performance, security, and scalability across the entire web estate.
Cross functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Brand, Growth, Content, Product Marketing, and other Technology teams to translate business requirements into robust, effective web solutions.
Performance & Optimization: Oversee the continuous optimization of the web platform for speed, SEO, user experience, and conversion, using data driven insights.
Vendor and Technology Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with external vendors and technology partners, ensuring optimal solutions and integrations.
Innovation & Future Proofing: Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, advocating for and implementing solutions that keep Cision at the forefront of digital experience.

Requirements

Significant experience (typically 8+ years) in web engineering leadership roles, with a proven track record of owning and scaling global web platforms.
Demonstrable experience leading and developing diverse engineering teams, including both in house talent and external agencies or contractors.
Deep expertise in modern web technologies, architectural patterns, and development methodologies (e.g., CMS platforms, frontend frameworks, backend services, cloud infrastructure).
Strong understanding of web performance optimization, SEO best practices, accessibility standards, and web analytics.
Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise communication for both technical and non technical stakeholders.
Exceptional collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across various departments including marketing, product, and technology.
Strategic mindset with a focus on delivering commercially effective solutions that align with overarching business goals.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
