As our first Director of Engineering for Data, you will step into a pivotal leadership role where your work directly shapes health outcomes for thousands of patients nationwide. This is a fully remote position open to candidates worldwide.
Overview
You will build the core infrastructure for how Allara collects, models, governs, and uses data. Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, this is a hands-on leadership position. Early on, you will roll up your sleeves to write and fix pipelines, clean up ETL processes, consolidate fragmented logic, and close gaps in source data. Over time, your focus will expand to defining our long-term data strategy and setting the technical standards that drive our entire organization forward.
Key Responsibilities
Architect and scale our modern data stack from the ground up while ensuring high data integrity and security.
Write robust ETL pipelines, clean up legacy data flows, and eliminate duplicated logic across systems.
Collaborate closely with clinical and product teams to translate healthcare metrics into actionable insights.
Define data governance policies and lead the hiring and mentoring of future data engineering talent.
Requirements
Extensive experience designing and maintaining large-scale data pipelines and complex data models.
Demonstrated success as a hands-on technical leader who balances coding with strategic planning.
Deep familiarity with modern cloud data warehousing and data orchestration tools.
