Overview

PS Technologies Inc. operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Electrical Consultants, Inc. Over the past two decades, our team has built an incredible track record delivering planning studies, system protection, and high voltage substation designs up to 500 kV and beyond across North America. In this position, your primary technical focus will span structural engineering and site civil design for substations and vital power delivery networks.

Key Responsibilities

Day to day, you will take ownership of structural and site civil deliverables across various utility scale projects. Some of your primary contributions include

Developing comprehensive design criteria packages for high voltage substations and switchyards
Designing standard shape steel structures and specifying custom tubular steel components
Performing foundation design calculations capable of supporting major electrical apparatus and heavy equipment
Creating layouts and structural evaluations for control buildings, fire walls, and protective blast enclosures
Collaborating closely with electrical engineering teams to ensure structural frameworks align with equipment clearances and utility standards
Reviewing geotechnical reports and translating soil mechanics data into resilient foundation systems

Requirements

We are seeking candidates who bring practical technical knowledge and clear communication to our remote team environment. Preferred qualifications include

A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline
Demonstrated experience with structural design, preferably within power delivery, substations, or heavy industrial sectors
Working familiarity with steel design standards, concrete foundation detailing, and structural analysis software
Knowledge of site layout planning, drainage, and utility civil design considerations
Strong self motivation and the ability to coordinate across cross functional teams in a distributed, international setting
Sound analytical capabilities and strong attention to engineering documentation detail
