The Role: Chief Communications Officer / PR Director
This senior leadership role is responsible for shaping how The Plug Global and its elite roster of clients are perceived in the public sphere. As the Chief Communications Officer / PR Director, you will protect corporate equity, influence public perception, and drive tangible commercial outcomes through masterfully crafted, strategic communications.
Key Responsibilities
In this dynamic role, you will lead the global communications strategy across several core areas:
- Corporate & Reputation Strategy: Align messaging, positioning, and narrative with the business objectives, brand identity, and leadership vision of The Plug across all touchpoints.
- Crisis & Issues Management: Lead advanced crisis communications and reputation risk management. You will establish and execute rapid response protocols to protect brand equity during high-stakes situations.
- Stakeholder & Media Relations: Serve as the agency’s primary spokesperson and provide strategic counsel to executive leadership on all media engagements.
- Executive Communications & Thought Leadership: Develop robust thought leadership platforms for executives to position the agency as an authority in culture, marketing, and communications.
- Internal Communications & Culture: Shape internal narratives and drive employee engagement, ensuring leadership messaging is consistent, clear, and reinforces a positive culture across the agency.
- Public Affairs & Narrative Influence: Position the agency strategically within key industry and policy conversations to drive positive business outcomes.
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate possesses exceptional boardroom credibility, outstanding narrative skills, and deep connections within the entertainment and media landscape. To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Experience: 5-7 years of proven success in strategic communications, corporate PR, or public affairs.
- Crisis Management: A solid, demonstrable track record of successfully managing high-profile crisis situations under pressure.
- Strategic Narrative: An exceptional ability to synthesize complex, sensitive issues into compelling narratives that positively influence perception and drive outcomes.
- Executive Presence: Impeccable presentation skills, authority, and credibility suitable for boardroom negotiations and high-level stakeholder meetings.
- Media Authority: Deep, established relationships with top-tier media houses, senior editors, and key broadcast platforms globally and across Africa.
- Commercial Acumen: A strong understanding of how reputation, trust, and public perception translate directly into business value, client growth, and revenue.
