Role Overview
The Assistant Fitter is a vital link in our production chain. You will play a hands-on role in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of our milling house equipment. From preventive maintenance to troubleshooting complex mechanical systems, your technical expertise will directly impact our output and operational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs on milling drives, cane preparatory devices, and centrifugal pumps.
- Minimize equipment downtime by proactively identifying mechanical issues and ensuring spare parts readiness.
- Maintain precise documentation, including equipment history cards and maintenance records.
- Coordinate seamlessly with the process, electrical, and boiler departments to ensure smooth plant operations.
- Strictly adhere to and promote safety protocols, ensuring a secure environment for all team members.
- Perform comprehensive servicing and maintenance during off-crop periods.
Requirements for Success
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
- Education: A minimum of an ND, TT1, or ITI qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 2-3 years of proven, hands-on experience in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of milling section equipment within a sugar plant environment.
- Competencies: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, a high level of integrity, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
