Overview
As our Assistant Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in Medline Europe's financial operations, reporting directly to the Director of Finance. Your expertise will be crucial in overseeing all accounting activities, from preparing comprehensive operating budgets to the timely delivery of accurate financial reporting. This is a fully remote opportunity, open to talented individuals across the globe who are ready to make a significant impact on an international scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the precise and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, along with all associated internal reporting.
- Maintain stringent qualitative control over all financial transactions throughout various accounting periods.
- Accurately determine and book incidental business transactions, including the precise creation of necessary provisions.
- Conduct thorough account reconciliations between the general ledger and sub-ledgers, ensuring data integrity.
- Collaborate closely with external partners, auditors, and tax consultants to coordinate and prepare annual financial statements.
- Work in conjunction with the HR department on payroll related matters, providing assistance with journal entries.
- Calculate corporate taxes for the accurate formation of provisions.
- Coordinate and prepare corporate tax returns with both internal teams and external tax advisors.
- Actively monitor and prepare periodic VAT returns and other essential regulatory reports.
- Continuously monitor and enhance internal controls and compliance procedures.
Requirements
We are seeking a proactive and highly analytical professional who thrives in a remote work environment. To excel in this role, you should possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA) is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated progressive experience in an accounting or finance role, with at least 5+ years of relevant experience. Experience as an Assistant Controller or a similar senior accounting position is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of international accounting standards (e.g., IFRS) and local tax regulations.
- Exceptional analytical skills, with a meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating with internal teams and external partners across different time zones.
- A proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, remote setting.
- Fluency in English is essential; additional European languages are a plus.
