Architect - Development (WMS Development) | Fully Remote, Worldwide
Are you an experienced Java Architect with a genuine passion for building robust, high-performance systems that keep the world moving? Imagine playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of global supply chains. At Wesco, we are seeking a visionary Architect to lead the charge in developing our cutting-edge Warehouse Management System (WMS). This isn't just about writing code; it's about crafting intelligent solutions that power inventory, optimize fulfillment, and integrate seamlessly across a complex ecosystem. If you thrive on architectural challenges and want to make a tangible impact, this fully remote, worldwide opportunity is perfect for you.
Overview
Wesco is looking for an exceptional Architect to join our dynamic team. This is a fully remote, worldwide opportunity. In this critical role, you will design and deliver powerful Java-based Warehouse Management System (WMS) solutions. Your work will directly support essential warehouse operations, sophisticated inventory management, efficient fulfillment, and advanced automation capabilities. You will architect and build scalable applications, robust REST APIs, nimble microservices, and seamless integrations connecting WMS with TMS, ERP, OMS, and various third-party systems. This ensures an unbroken flow across our entire supply chain. You'll optimize application performance, boost reliability, and enhance maintainability by applying modern software engineering practices and embracing cloud-native technologies. Leveraging Azure services, Kubernetes, and state-of-the-art data platforms will be key as you modernize legacy systems, sharpen operational visibility, and drive business growth. Your technical expertise in design, development, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement for mission-critical warehouse and distribution applications will be invaluable.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire high-performing Java development teams. You will guide them in designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting enterprise-scale Warehouse Management System (WMS) applications and advanced warehouse automation solutions.
- Direct the architecture, design, and development efforts for Java-based WMS solutions. This includes focusing on scalability, performance, and resilience.
- Design and implement robust REST APIs, microservices, and integration patterns. These will connect WMS with critical internal and external systems like TMS, ERP, and OMS.
- Champion modern software engineering practices, including continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), test automation, and code quality standards.
- Leverage cloud-native architectures, specifically within Azure, utilizing services like Kubernetes, Azure Functions, and various data platforms to build resilient and scalable solutions.
- Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to development teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across development, staging, and production environments.
- Drive initiatives for system modernization, performance tuning, and operational efficiency improvements for mission-critical applications.
- Collaborate closely with product owners, business analysts, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical designs.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in Java development. You should possess a strong background in architecting and building enterprise-level applications.
- Proven track record in designing and implementing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or other complex supply chain software.
- Deep expertise in developing scalable REST APIs and microservices architectures.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure. Knowledge of services such as AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service), Azure Functions, Azure SQL, or Cosmos DB is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Solid understanding of integration patterns and experience connecting various enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, TMS, OMS).
- Demonstrated ability to lead development teams and drive architectural decisions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality, maintainable code.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, vital for working in a remote, global team setting.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
