Join micro1 as an AI Engineer, a pivotal role where your expertise will directly contribute to training groundbreaking artificial intelligence systems. This is a contractor position, requiring approximately 15 hours per week, offering exceptional flexibility to choose your own working days and hours, even including weekends if that suits your lifestyle. We welcome applications from anywhere across the globe, as this is a fully remote opportunity. While prior experience in AI isn't necessary, your profound understanding of software engineering is paramount. You will be instrumental in developing sophisticated Reinforcement Learning Environments, designed to test and refine an AI model’s ability to tackle real-world software engineering puzzles using Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools.

Key Responsibilities

Design and build innovative Reinforcement Learning Environments that challenge AI models to solve intricate software engineering problems.
Develop scenarios where AI agents must effectively utilize Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools, learning to navigate and extract information from real MCP servers.
Craft diverse tasks for AI agents, including fixing bugs, implementing new features, refactoring existing codebases, and optimizing performance.
Ensure the reproducibility of all created environments, establish deterministic verification processes, and provide golden reference solutions.
Accurately measure both the AI's proficiency in using MCP tools and its overall software engineering problem-solving capabilities within these environments.

Requirements

Strong proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: C++, Python, Java, GoLang, TypeScript, or Rust.
A deep, foundational understanding of algorithms, data structures, and best practices for performance tuning in software development.
Demonstrated experience and a proven track record in software engineering, with a keen eye for detail and problem-solving.
