Overview

Lifted, an Upwork company, is on the lookout for a dedicated GitLab Administrator / Platform Engineer to lead a vital service account migration initiative. This is a fully remote opportunity open to talent worldwide. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing our platform's security and operational efficiency by systematically transitioning our automation identities to native GitLab service accounts. This project demands a keen eye for detail, a proactive problem-solving approach, and excellent coordination skills to ensure a seamless transition for all affected teams and automations.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary tasks will include:

Migrating a defined portfolio of existing service accounts to GitLab native service accounts, meticulously handling one account at a time.
Rotating or replacing credentials and tokens as each automation identity is successfully cut over.
Securely decommissioning old credentials and access after successful validation processes are complete.
Updating permissions and group/project access for all migrated automation identities to maintain proper functionality.
Diagnosing and resolving CI/CD or automation failures that may arise from credential, token, permission, or identity changes.
Coordinating migration timing, validation steps, and necessary follow-up activities with the teams that own the affected automation.
Supporting the secure and reliable completion of a time-bounded access remediation initiative.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you should possess:

Strong, hands-on GitLab administration or platform engineering experience.
Proven experience working with CI/CD pipelines and various automated tooling.
Practical experience rotating or replacing credentials and tokens within automation workflows.
A solid background in securely decommissioning old access following a credential or identity cutover.
Expertise in debugging CI/CD or automation integrations that rely heavily on service credentials.
Prior experience migrating service accounts or other non-human identities is crucial.
