Job Purpose

The Transportation Manager will lead, oversee, and optimize all transportation services within the organization. This vital role ensures the safe, efficient, and cost-effective transit of staff and patients while upholding rigorous service quality standards and regulatory compliance. Core Responsibilities

The selected candidate will drive excellence across three main areas:

1. Fleet Management
  • Supervise the acquisition, maintenance, and strategic disposal of the company's fleet of vehicles.
  • Formulate and execute strict vehicle inspection and maintenance routines to guarantee safety and roadworthiness.
  • Lead driver recruitment, onboarding, ongoing training, and performance assessments.
  • Track fuel usage, introduce fuel-efficiency initiatives, and manage overall fuel expenditures.
  • Deploy and leverage advanced vehicle tracking systems to supervise driver behavior, fuel economy, and vehicle locations.
2. Transportation Planning & Scheduling
  • Design and refine transport routes to maximize efficiency and minimize transit times.
  • Coordinate and dispatch vehicles seamlessly for staff commute, patient transit, and other institutional requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with internal departments, including Human Resources, Nursing, and Patient Services, to align transportation schedules.
  • Develop robust contingency plans for emergencies, natural disasters, or urgent medical situations.
  • Maintain comprehensive, up-to-date transportation logs and administrative records.
3. Driver Training & Safety
  • Create and coordinate comprehensive training modules focused on defensive driving, safety guidelines, and customer relations.
  • Assess driver performance consistently and identify coaching opportunities.
  • Enforce safety policies rigorously and address any transport-related incidents or accidents swiftly.
  • Foster a proactive safety-first culture among all drivers and passengers.

Qualifications and Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.
  • Professional Certifications: Credentialing as a Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) or Certified Logistics Professional (CLP) is highly preferred.
  • Experience: 5 to 7 years of solid professional experience in transportation management or a similar capacity.

Key Competencies and Personal Attributes

  • Deep knowledge of local transportation laws, compliance policies, and risk management guidelines.
  • Proficiency with GPS tracking platforms, fleet management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with the ability to handle passenger concerns empathetically.
