Role Overview

As a Timekeeper at African Industries Group, you will play a critical role in ensuring operational efficiency and payroll accuracy. You will be responsible for overseeing daily attendance tracking, resolving timekeeping discrepancies, and ensuring that payroll data is processed seamlessly and in full compliance with company policies and labor regulations.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, your daily and weekly duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Attendance & Shift Monitoring: Monitor and document employees' daily attendance, overtime hours, and shift schedules accurately.
  • Discrepancy Resolution: Verify physical and digital attendance records, identify variances, and proactively resolve any timekeeping discrepancies.
  • Reporting: Compile and prepare detailed daily, weekly, and monthly attendance reports for management.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Coordinate closely with departmental supervisors and managers regarding attendance patterns and shift operations.
  • Payroll Support: Provide clean, verified, and timely attendance data to the finance and HR teams to facilitate accurate payroll processing.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous records of employee leaves, absenteeism, sick days, and overtime hours.
  • Compliance & Systems Management: Manage biometric attendance hardware/software systems, update database records, and ensure all procedures align with internal company policies and external labor laws.

Key Requirements

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Education: HND or Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or any other related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience as a Timekeeper, Time & Attendance Officer, Payroll Assistant, or in a similar administrative capacity.
  • Technical Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Microsoft Excel, for complex data management. Experience with biometric systems and workforce management software is highly advantageous.
  • Analytical Ability: Strong analytical and mathematical skills, coupled with an exceptional level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage relationships with staff at all levels.
  • Work Ethic: Proven ability to work independently, manage high volumes of data, and consistently meet strict deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

While not mandatory, preference will be given to candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Prior experience working within a manufacturing, heavy industrial, or warehouse environment.
  • A solid understanding of shift operations, complex rotation schedules, and overtime administration regulations.
  • Proximity to AIG's key operational locations. Candidates should ideally reside within or close to Ikeja or Ikoyi.
