The Role: Store Manager - Receiving (Obajana Plant)
As the Store Manager - Receiving, you will play a key operational role in ensuring the seamless flow of incoming materials. Based at the Obajana Plant, you will lead and manage all receiving activities, ensuring that all incoming materials, spare parts, and consumables are inspected, documented, and handled safely and accurately. Your leadership will ensure compliance with Dangote Cement policies, HSE standards, and global warehousing procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Daily Operations Supervision: Oversee the offloading, checking, inspection, weighing, and formal acceptance of all incoming materials.
- Quality Control & Inspection: Ensure thorough physical inspection of deliveries against purchase orders, packing lists, and delivery notes.
- Discrepancy Management: Instantly flag and manage non-conformances, shortages, overages, and damaged items. Work closely with Procurement, Quality Assurance, and Logistics to resolve outstanding issues.
- System Documentation: Ensure precise and timely entry of all incoming receipts into ERP/WMS systems and manual logs, and prepare Goods Received Notes (GRNs).
- Quarantine Control: Oversee the designated quarantine area for suspect or damaged materials, enforcing strict compliance with return or disposal procedures.
- Team Leadership: Manage, train, and schedule the receiving staff while maintaining performance management and discipline.
- HSE Compliance: Supervise the safe usage of material handling equipment (such as forklifts and cranes) and halt operations if safety is compromised.
- Traffic Coordination: Schedule inbound vehicles in collaboration with Logistics to minimize congestion and avoid costly demurrage.
- Inventory Audits: Keep the receiving bay clean and secure, maintain organized documentation, and support cycle counts and inventory reconciliations.
- Supplier Performance: Monitor delivery performance and accuracy, providing critical data to the Procurement department.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Success in this role will be measured by:
- Percentage of deliveries received without discrepancies.
- Average processing time of a receipt from arrival to digital registration in ERP.
- Maintenance of a zero-incident safety record in the receiving area.
- On-time issuance percentage of Goods Received Notes (GRNs).
- Minimizing the number of damaged/short deliveries recorded monthly.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this high-impact position, you should possess:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc. or HND) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Purchasing, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience in warehouse/stores receiving operations within heavy industry, manufacturing, or the cement sector. At least two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role is highly preferred.
- Tech Savviness: Practical working knowledge of ERP/WMS systems (specific experience with SAP or Oracle is a major advantage).

- Sound awareness of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) regulations and their practical application.
- Basic technical understanding of industrial materials and handling requirements.
