To support its world-class operational standards at the Obajana Plant, Dangote Industries Limited is seeking a highly skilled and diligent Store Manager - Issuing.

About the Role

The Store Manager - Issuing is responsible for overseeing materials issuing operations to production, maintenance, and site projects. This pivotal role ensures correct material selection, timely issuance, accurate documentation, and strict internal controls to support uninterrupted plant operations while minimizing stock losses and misuse.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Daily Operations Management: Manage daily issuing activities to production, maintenance, and contractors according to approved requisitions, job cards, and work orders.
  • Verification & Control: Verify requisitions for authorizations, specifications, and availability before issue, and swiftly escalate any discrepancies.
  • Material Handling: Ensure accurate picking, kitting, and staging of materials while maintaining strict FIFO/FEFO discipline where applicable.
  • ERP System Utilization: Issue materials using ERP/WMS picking and issuing modules, and ensure all issue documents (Material Issue Notes, Requisition Forms) are complete, accurate, and archived.
  • High-Value Item Control: Control the issuance of critical spares and high-value items, implementing a robust approval matrix for controlled material releases.
  • Urgency & Breakdown Coordination: Partner with the Planning and Maintenance teams to prioritize urgent breakdown/spare requests and expedite material issuance.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise the Issuing team by providing training, managing rosters, conducting performance appraisals, and coaching them on correct parts identification and safety tool usage.
  • Stock Reconciliation: Conduct regular physical checks of issuing points and satellite stores, reconciling differences with central stores records.
  • Security & Loss Prevention: Ensure zero theft, pilferage, and unauthorized issuance through active access control, CCTV oversight, and strict sign-off procedures.
  • Inventory Optimization: Support preventive stock level reviews and suggest reorder or critical level adjustments based on usage trends.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

The success of the Store Manager - Issuing will be measured by the following metrics:

  • Percentage of on-time issues to Maintenance and Production.
  • Accuracy of issues (picked vs. requested materials).
  • Number of unauthorized or unapproved material issues.
  • Rate of stockouts for critical plant spares.

Requirements: Qualification and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Logistics, Supply Chain, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of stores/issuing experience in heavy industry; experience in cement or large-scale manufacturing environments is highly preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with ERP stores modules and material issue workflows.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong process discipline and accountability.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of spare parts identification and ability to read technical drawings of parts.
  • A strong customer-service orientation towards internal stakeholders (maintenance/production).
  • Exceptional numerical accuracy and meticulous record-keeping skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage emergency demands calmly and efficiently.
