Position Overview
Are you a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in inventory management and supply chain logistics? Wärtsilä is seeking a proactive and skilled Store & Logistics Officer to oversee operations at their power plant site in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.
In this key role, you will ensure the timely availability of critical spare parts, tools, and materials required to maintain seamless power plant operations. By executing structured warehouse processes, utilizing inventory management systems, and strictly adhering to safety standards, you will directly support maintenance schedules and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
As the Store & Logistics Officer, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Handling all plant-related storekeeping and logistics activities.
- Liaising with the PCM and logistics team on spare parts ordering, shipments, and accurate deliveries to the site to meet maintenance schedule requirements.
- Receiving incoming goods and verifying quantities, quality, and documentation against purchase orders and invoices.
- Accurately sorting, labeling, and storing goods while optimizing warehouse space utilization.
- Picking, issuing, and delivering goods according to established logistics processes.
- Maintaining logistics and inventory data in relevant ERP/management systems to ensure accurate and up-to-date stock records.
- Retrieving and providing vital inventory-related information, such as stock transfers, inventory levels, and delivery schedules.
- Performing routine administrative tasks, including updating stock records and completing receipt, transfer, delivery, and dispatch documentation.
- Planning and scheduling logistics movements for the plant as directed by the Plant Manager.
- Actively participating in Continuous Improvement initiatives related to quality, safety, delivery, and operational efficiency.
- Maintaining the store or warehouse in accordance with 5S principles and company safety standards.
- Coaching and supporting colleagues in daily storekeeping and logistics activities.
- Maintaining adequate inventory and records of all tools on site, ensuring they are properly maintained and readily available for operational use.
- Monitoring tool calibration schedules and maintaining accurate calibration records.
- Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate activities, resolve issues, and improve processes.
- Packing, labeling, and dispatching outgoing goods with all relevant documentation.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the Plant Manager.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in storekeeping, warehouse operations, inventory management, or logistics within a power plant, industrial, manufacturing, or heavy industry environment.
- Software: Prior experience working with inventory management systems, ERP platforms, or warehouse management tools is highly advantageous.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and logistics processes.
- Familiarity with spare parts management and stock optimization practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong planning, organizational, and meticulous record-keeping skills.
- Ability to analyze inventory data and prepare highly accurate reports.
- Good understanding of workplace safety requirements and 5S principles.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
