The Opportunity: Senior Program Manager

As our Senior Program Manager, you will be the primary execution partner to the Programme Director, serving as the engine that keeps every workstream moving, every dependency tracked, every risk visible, and every decision meticulously followed through. You will directly lead and mentor a team of Scrum Masters and Project Managers, setting the bar for delivery standards, governance discipline, and coordination rhythm required for a platform of our scale and complexity.

We are searching for a seasoned program leader with a proven track record of delivering large-scale digital banking or sophisticated software platform programs. You must possess an intricate understanding of agile engineering delivery, be comfortable operating at an executive level, and bring an unwavering sense of urgency, structural acumen, and ownership mindset to keep a complex, multi-jurisdiction program firmly on track.

Key Responsibilities: What You'll Do

Programme Leadership & Delivery Control: Support the Programme Director in leading end-to-end execution across all workstreams. You will maintain an integrated view of scope, timelines, milestones, risks, dependencies, decisions, and delivery commitments. Drive execution discipline, ensuring every workstream has clear owners, actions, and dates, while providing leadership continuity and structured follow-through.
Multi-Workstream Coordination: Expertly coordinate delivery across all major program workstreams, including product management, UI/UX, frontend/backend engineering, API/core banking integration, cloud platform & DevSecOps, cybersecurity, data & analytics, legal, budget, people, go-to-market, and multi-country rollout planning.
Team Leadership & Delivery Management: Lead, mentor, and performance-manage Scrum Masters and Project Managers across the program. Establish consistent delivery, agile, and reporting standards, ensuring effective sprint planning, dependency management, milestone tracking, and issue resolution. Coach delivery leads in managing risks and stakeholder expectations.
Digital Banking & Product Delivery: Translate product priorities into executable delivery plans spanning design, engineering, integration, testing, and release. Support backlog governance, MVP scope control, and dependency management, collaborating closely with product owners, architects, and engineering leads.
Software Build Programme Governance: Lead delivery governance for a build-oriented software program, meticulously tracking progress across frontend, backend, API, cloud, cybersecurity, and integration teams. Ensure engineering commitments are properly sequenced and dependencies actively managed.
Risk, Issue & Dependency Management: Own the integrated RAID discipline across the program, identifying emerging risks early and escalating with clear mitigation options. Track critical dependencies across all internal and external stakeholders.
Governance, Reporting & Stakeholder Management: Prepare high-quality, decision-oriented updates for the Programme Director, Executive SteerCo, Technical Committee, Product Council, and other governance forums, maintaining accurate program dashboards, decision logs, and delivery health views.
Vendor, Partner & Commercial Delivery: Coordinate delivery dependencies across key partners and accelerators, tracking vendor obligations, deliverables, timelines, commercials, and legal aspects to ensure efficient collaboration and manage potential risks.
Go-to-Market & Launch Readiness: Support the integrated launch plan covering staff/customer pilots, branch enablement, contact center readiness, training, communication, app store readiness, production cutover, hypercare, and incident response, ensuring seamless connection to product and operational readiness.
Multi-Jurisdiction & Country Rollout: Support planning across a multi-country operating environment, tracking country-specific requirements for regulation, language, payments, integrations, and operational readiness, ensuring the platform build considers scale, localization, resilience, and supportability.

Who We're Looking For: Your Profile

Must-Have Qualifications

Significant experience managing large-scale technology, software development, or digital transformation programs, with a demonstrable track record of on-time delivery in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
Proven delivery experience in digital banking, mobile banking, fintech, payments, or enterprise financial services platforms, coupled with a deep understanding of the inherent product, engineering, and regulatory complexities.
Experience leading teams of Project Managers, Scrum Masters, or delivery leads within a complex program, with a demonstrated ability to set standards, manage performance, and build robust delivery capabilities.
Strong understanding of agile delivery, DevSecOps, sprint planning, release management, backlog governance, testing, and production readiness, with sufficient technical fluency to engage credibly with engineering leads.
Demonstrated ability to manage risk, issues, dependencies, governance, and executive reporting in high-pressure situations, exhibiting a clear escalation mindset and a strong bias for resolution.
Extensive experience managing complex build programs involving product, engineering, cloud, integration, cybersecurity, and go-to-market workstreams simultaneously.
A confident executive presence, capable of preparing and presenting program status at SteerCo and board level, translating complex delivery realities into clear, decision-ready narratives.

Desired Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)

Experience delivering programs across multiple countries or regulatory jurisdictions, with working knowledge of how localization, regulatory variance, and country-specific integration requirements impact delivery planning.
Experience managing delivery across multiple vendors, system integrators, and technology partners, including tracking commercial obligations, deliverable quality, and managing exit risks.
Familiarity with CBN guidelines, PCI DSS, and data protection regulations applicable to financial services in African markets.
Prior experience as a Senior Programme Manager, Transformation Lead, Delivery Director, or PMO Lead on a major strategic technology program.
