About the Role
As the Senior Coordinator, GIS Services, you will provide critical technical and strategic leadership. You will not only manage GIS teams and workflows but also bridge the gap between complex spatial data and actionable decision-making. By designing and deploying predictive models, interactive dashboards, and scalable data pipelines, you will support vital functions such as disease surveillance, immunization planning, and emergency response.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement organizational spatial strategies and data architecture to ensure sustainable GIS integration.
- Data Visualization & Insights: Transform complex spatial data into intuitive dashboards and geographic intelligence for donors and health stakeholders.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with IT, M&E, and research teams to align GIS workflows with overall data pipelines and analytics ecosystems.
- Technical Oversight: Manage GIS service delivery, ensuring adherence to metadata standards, data governance, and ethical data-sharing practices.
- Capacity Building: Provide expert advice to program teams on the integration of innovative geospatial tools for health interventions.
Who You Are
To succeed in this role, you should be a results-oriented leader who can translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable information. You are a 'Data Integrator' proficient in modern GIS software and mobile mapping workflows, with a strong commitment to evidence-based development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Data Science, or Public Health (Master’s degree preferred).
- 3–5 years of professional experience in a data-driven environment, preferably within the NGO or development sector.
- Strong familiarity with ArcGIS Online, Power BI, and mobile data collection tools like ODK or Kobo.
- Relevant certifications such as ACAP or GISP are highly desirable.
