Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Duplo, your role will span across backend development, cloud infrastructure design, and technical leadership. Below is a detailed breakdown of your core responsibilities:
1. Backend Development & System Architecture- Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable, reliable, and secure backend systems using TypeScript and NestJS, with a rigorous focus on accuracy and correctness in financial transaction handling.
- Establish and maintain robust service boundaries and a clean, maintainable architecture across distributed services.
- Architect, optimize, and scale PostgreSQL schemas, ensuring optimal indexing strategies, transaction management, and database protection patterns.
- Effectively utilize Redis for caching, system coordination, rate-limiting, and distributed locking.
- Reason effectively about deployment safety, system observability, scale, and proactive incident diagnosis within production environments running on Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
- Maintain an advanced operational understanding of configuration management, secrets handling, runtime behavior, and rollback strategies.
- Collaborate closely with the DevOps team to treat infrastructure as a shared concern, ensuring all technical decisions support overall system reliability.
- Champion the technical design and execution of large, complex, or high-risk engineering initiatives.
- Deconstruct complex technical requirements into manageable, well-sequenced milestones.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, raising the entire team's engineering standards by setting an exceptional example.

Job Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should possess a strong blend of the following technical and professional capabilities:
Technical & Engineering Expertise:- A minimum of 7 years of experience in backend engineering, with deep, proven expertise in TypeScript and NestJS.
- Excellent command of PostgreSQL (schema design, indexing, and transaction handling) and Redis (caching and distributed locking).
- Strong operational knowledge of modern DevOps tools, specifically Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
- Demonstrated experience in fintech environments, with a strong grasp of orchestration, provider integration resilience, and high-compliance designs.
- A strong commitment to writing clean, testable, and maintainable code under Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- A proven track record of owning high-stakes technical projects from initial design straight through to production launch.
