The Role: Product Manager - Payments & Transactions
As the primary Product Manager, you will hold a high-ownership role working directly with the Technology Lead and Managing Director (MD). You will be tasked with bringing structure to a fast-moving, agile environment, translating commercial opportunities and operational challenges into seamless, functional product features.
Your scope of ownership will span across the enterprise platform, the consumer-facing mobile app, merchant integrations, and essential internal tooling.
Key Responsibilities
- Roadmap Ownership: Define, prioritize, and manage the end-to-end product roadmap across B2B platforms, consumer mobile apps, and merchant networks.
- Execution & Delivery: Write clear, comprehensive product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to empower the engineering team to deploy swiftly and confidently.
- Optimizing Core Workflows: Streamline and improve core voucher journeys, including issuance, redemption, wallet funding, financial reconciliation, and transaction reporting.
- Cross-functional Alignment: Act as the bridge between Engineering, Customer Success, Business Development, and Finance to manage delivery dependencies and ensure timely launches.
- App & Loyalty Strategy: Direct the feature pipeline for the consumer app, emphasizing user retention, loyalty programs, wallet functionalities, and gamified rewards.
- Merchant Integrations: Oversee B2B and merchant acceptance initiatives from initial scoping to testing, deployment, and performance monitoring.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Utilize product analytics to track user behavior, checkout funnels, and transaction metrics to continuously optimize the platform.
Requirements & Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should possess the following profile:
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of professional product management experience, with at least 2 years specifically within the Fintech, Payments, or E-commerce sectors.
- Mobile Product Expertise: Proven experience shipping high-quality, consumer-facing mobile applications.
- B2B Exposure: Familiarity with enterprise portals, API-driven integrations, and administrative tooling.
- Technical Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to partner directly with engineering teams to scope, prioritize, and ship technical solutions.
- Autonomy: Comfort acting as the sole, primary product function in a rapidly scaling organization without a large supporting PM team.
- Communication: Exceptional ability to align both highly technical developers and commercial stakeholders.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with loyalty, reward programs, wallet mechanics, or gamification features.
- In-depth understanding of the Nigerian or broader African consumer behavior and payment ecosystems.
- Prior experience as the founding or sole Product Manager in a growing tech startup.
