About the Role
This is a senior-level leadership position designed for an innovative strategist who thrives at the intersection of customer reality, engineering capability, and business strategy. As the Product Development Lead, you will take complete ownership of the product vision, roadmap, and commercial logic for a diverse portfolio of advanced technology platforms. Your primary objective will be to define what gets built, why it gets built, and how it successfully penetrates the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, defend, and strategically manage the product roadmap across multiple hardware platform programmes.
- Conduct hands-on, direct discovery with end-users and primary stakeholders in target industries to establish and maintain actual customer truth.
- Make crucial prioritization and build-versus-defer decisions in a highly resource-constrained, fast-moving development environment.
- Own the commercial logic for each product, including defining the target buyer, value proposition, pricing models, and margin expectations.
- Translate high-level strategic objectives into actionable engineering briefs and clear programme milestones.
- Manage the entire product lifecycle from initial conceptualization to manufacturing-ready handoff.
- Represent the organization with high credibility in technical, commercial, and government stakeholder engagements.
Candidate Requirements
- A demonstrable and successful track record in senior product leadership, specifically with complex hardware, defence, or dual-use technology systems.
- Fluency across engineering fundamentals, manufacturing economics, and modern go-to-market strategies.
- Direct experience engaging with government, military, or critical infrastructure buyers.
- A solid grasp of cost structures, throughput trade-offs, and the overall economics of hardware at scale.
- The ability to command credibility during detailed technical engineering reviews as well as high-level C-suite or procurement negotiations.
- Nigerian nationals are strongly preferred; candidates with relevant and proven West African market knowledge are at an advantage.
Preferred Background
- Prior experience working within the maritime, defence, or industrial technology sectors.
- Experience navigating and managing products through Nigerian or West African government procurement processes.
- Exposure to additive manufacturing or advanced manufacturing-led product development methodologies.
