Position Overview
The Network Specialist plays a critical role in overseeing day-to-day network support operations, ensuring prompt L2/L3 issue resolution, and upholding strict SLA compliance. This position involves managing high-level troubleshooting across VSAT, IP routing, transmission devices, and access networks while mentoring a dedicated team of network support engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Manage and develop the Network Support team to enhance technical capabilities, troubleshooting skills, and customer-centric service delivery through regular coaching and evaluations.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee daily operations, maintain Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) standards, identify key performance metrics, and reduce escalation rates.
- Advanced Technical Support: Perform high-level troubleshooting and configuration optimization for VSAT platforms, IP routing (QoS, MPLS), P2P radios, and core/access transmission devices.
- Proactive Network Enhancement: Implement best practices to reduce manual tasks, enhance NMS monitoring platforms (e.g., Nagios, Cacti, Entuity, SAF, NEC, Ceragon), and address potential vulnerabilities before they affect service availability.
- Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration: Work closely with third-party vendors, cross-functional internal teams, and clients to coordinate support, resolve complex issues, and realign operational goals with broader organizational objectives.
- Reporting & Escalation Handling: Act as the primary escalation point for critical service-impacting network incidents while preparing performance and continuous improvement reports for senior management.
Key Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Certifications: Advanced professional certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, ITIL, Lean Six Sigma, or SCRUM are strongly preferred.
- Experience: At least 8+ years of total experience in Network Operations, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or Senior Engineer role, ideally within an ISP or telecom environment.
- Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in IP networking, routing, switching, MPLS, QoS, VSAT systems, and enterprise ticketing/monitoring platforms.
- Core Competencies: Exceptional analytical problem-solving skills, strong leadership qualities, self-motivation, and outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
