Backed by a massive grain storage capacity of 191,000 metric tons and independent power generation capabilities (including 30MW gas and 30MW backup diesel plants), the company ensures uninterrupted operations. To sustain this giant food-production network, FMN is seeking a high-caliber and experienced professional to step into the critical role of Logistics Manager.
The Role: Logistics Manager
The Logistics Manager will lead and optimize end-to-end logistics operations across FMN’s multiple production sites, warehouses, depots, and extensive distribution channels. The main objective of this role is to guarantee efficient transportation, timely inventory movement, and reliable customer deliveries. By maintaining the highest safety and service standards, the Logistics Manager will play a vital role in keeping FMN’s cost-to-serve metrics highly competitive.
Key Responsibilities and Job Functions
- Strategic Logistics Execution: Develop and execute robust logistics strategies that guarantee the seamless movement of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods from plants to depots and retail locations nationwide.
- Fleet and Route Optimization: Analyze and improve truck utilization, route planning, fleet deployment, and scheduling to minimize idle times, maximize fuel efficiency, and lower overall transportation costs.
- Outbound & Inbound Management: Supervise all daily dispatch and receiving operations, ensuring that delivery targets and customer service levels are consistently achieved.
- Haulage Partner Management: Recruit, evaluate, negotiate, and manage third-party transporters and haulage partners to build a reliable, cost-effective, and highly responsive nationwide transportation network.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Supply Chain Planning, Sales, Procurement, Production, and Finance teams to align product distribution plans with current market demand and corporate goals.
- KPI Monitoring: Track, analyze, and report on key logistics metrics, including On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) delivery, vehicle turnaround times, freight cost per ton, and lead times.
- Risk Mitigation: Implement strong contingency plans and continuous improvement initiatives to mitigate supply chain disruptions, transport challenges, and transit risks.
Required Profile and Qualifications
This senior leadership position requires an individual with exceptional industry insight, standard-setting execution capability, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Education: Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business Administration, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive, hands-on experience in Logistics, Transportation, Fleet Management, or broader Supply Chain operations, preferably within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) or industrial sector.
- Leadership Skills: Proven track record of managing cross-functional teams, overseeing nationwide distribution routes, and coordinating external haulage partners.
- Analytical Excellence: Highly analytical with excellent problem-solving capacity, specifically geared towards cost optimization, budget management, and process efficiency.
