Role Overview
The Loading Bay Manager is tasked with the coordination of high-volume outbound logistics for both bagged and bulk products. You will oversee the entire lifecycle of truck traffic, from entry to exit, ensuring that safety, accuracy, and efficiency remain at the forefront of every operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Traffic & Dispatch Oversight: Manage the seamless movement of third-party trucks through weighbridge stations to minimize turnaround times.
- Operations Excellence: Lead a team of loaders, forklift operators, and bay supervisors across 24/7 shifts, ensuring adherence to rigorous loading standards.
- Security & Compliance: Maintain absolute integrity in the loading process, including verification of tarping, sealing, and weight compliance to eliminate product loss.
- Documentation Management: Ensure precision in the generation of waybills, gate passes, and delivery notes using our integrated dispatch software.
- Safety Leadership: Champion a 'Safety First' culture, enforcing PPE compliance and managing high-risk operational zones.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) such as daily tonnes loaded, documentation accuracy, and overall truck turnaround time.
Who We Are Looking For
To succeed in this role, you must be a proactive problem-solver with a strong presence. The ideal candidate will have:
- Academic Background: A BSc or HND in Engineering, Sciences, Logistics/Supply Chain, Accounting, or Industrial/Production Management.
- Experience: 4–7 years of relevant experience in FMCG, heavy industry, or high-volume port/dispatch operations.
- Technical Prowess: Proficiency in SAP or similar Logistics Management Systems is highly valued.
- Leadership Skills: The ability to manage large teams, mediate conflicts, and maintain order in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional Growth: Certifications such as CILT, APICS, or OSHA are considered an added advantage.
