Exciting Global Leadership Opportunity: Lead - Ending Child Marriage at Plan International

Are you a visionary leader passionate about defending adolescent girls’ rights, health, and agency? Plan International is seeking a dynamic and strategic expert to spearhead its global flagship initiative focused on ending child marriage.

Founded over 75 years ago, Plan International is a world-renowned global organization operating in over 70 countries. With a mission to advance children’s rights and gender equality, Plan International has consistently worked side-by-side with communities to break the cycle of poverty and ensure sustainable, long-term impact. This critical leadership role is your chance to stand at the forefront of tackling one of the world's most urgent gender equality challenges.

The Role Purpose

As the Lead for Ending Child Marriage, you will help shape a world where every girl has the agency to decide her own future. You will define and drive an ambitious, evidence-based approach that targets the root causes of child marriage—including poverty, harmful gender norms, gender-based violence, and limited access to quality education, health, and economic opportunities.

Key Responsibilities: What You Will Do

  • Strategy & Vision: Define and drive the global vision, strategy, and ambition for Plan International’s flagship initiative.
  • Resource Mobilization: Lead fundraising efforts and cultivate resilient relationships with key international donors and strategic partners.
  • Thought Leadership: Serve as an external representative and thought leader, elevating Plan International's profile in global conversations on adolescent girls' rights.
  • Advocacy & Narrative: Shape powerful global narratives and policy advocacy to influence structural change.
  • Integrated Programming: Oversee and coordinate multi-sectoral, girl-centered programs across sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), education, protection, and economic empowerment.
  • Global Collaboration: Work effectively across a matrixed, international network to align global, regional, and national teams.

Ideal Candidate Profile: About You

  • Deep Expertise: A strong understanding of the structural root causes of child marriage, adolescent girls’ rights, and gender-inclusive programming.
  • Proven Leadership: Demonstrated success leading integrated, multi-sector programs in complex, resource-constrained, or humanitarian settings.
  • Influence & Partnership: Excellent track record in external representation, high-level advocacy, and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to translate evidence, research, and learning into powerful strategic actions and funding opportunities.

Why Join Plan International?

This is a unique, high-impact role that allows you to direct global resources, advocate on the world stage, and deliver life-changing outcomes for millions of girls worldwide. Plan International offers an inclusive, collaborative environment where your expertise will directly contribute to a world that respects the dignity and potential of all children.
