Kolomoni Microfinance Bank, a leading financial services provider dedicated to offering smart, personalized, and highly convenient banking experiences, is looking for an experienced Hardware Operations Officer to join its dynamic team.
This role is vital to the bank's distribution and customer satisfaction strategy, reporting directly to the Head of POS & Hardware Channels. You will work closely with the Inventory & Logistics Lead, After-sales & RMA Lead, Regional Repair Leads/Engineers, and Regional Managers/State Coordinators to ensure that our merchants and agents receive uninterrupted service.
Role Summary
The Hardware Operations Officer is responsible for the day-to-day execution of Kolomoni’s POS hardware field operations. This covers installations, configurations, swaps, retrievals, redeployments, and operational coordination across assigned states or regions. The core goal of this role is to ensure terminal hardware is deployed quickly, configured flawlessly, and maintained efficiently while maintaining airtight tracking and custody controls.
Key Deliverables & Outcomes
- Rapid Deployment: Ensure terminals are installed and activated quickly post-allocation.
- Seamless Swaps: Execute swaps and retrievals with maximum speed, minimized merchant downtime, and rigorous documentation.
- Incident Resolution: Handle hardware incidents efficiently with clear escalation pathways.
- Accurate Tracking: Maintain meticulous records of device movements, serial numbers, assignments, and status changes.
- Regional Collaboration: Collaborate with state and regional teams to reduce merchant churn and operational downtime.
Core Responsibilities
1. Installations & Deployments
- Execute physical POS terminal installations and initial setups at agent and merchant locations.
- Verify device connectivity, configuration settings, and general functionality prior to customer handoff.
- Onboard merchants with basic usage training, emphasizing device safety and escalation procedures.
- Document every deployment, capturing terminal IDs, merchant IDs, dates, and signed confirmations.
2. Swaps, Retrievals & Redeployments
- Manage terminal replacement (swaps) for damaged or faulty devices to ensure business continuity for merchants.
- Collect and retrieve inactive terminals from churned agents, returning them to inventory or RMA processes.
- Coordinate the refurbishment and redeployment of recovered devices once cleared.
- Keep strict custody trails for every hardware movement.
3. Field Coordination & Escalations
- Work hand-in-hand with State Coordinators and Business Relationship Managers to set daily/weekly field schedules.
- Promptly escalate advanced technical faults to Regional Repair Engineers or the RMA team.
- Track pending field cases (delays, faulty equipment, swap requests) and drive closure within SLAs.
- Support hands-on incident management during outages or regional telecom disruptions.
4. Device Tracking, Reporting & Controls
- Maintain real-time database integrity of device locations, assignments, and device conditions.
- Prepare comprehensive daily and weekly reports detailing all field operations and exceptional occurrences.
- Participate in periodic physical stock reconciliations alongside the Inventory team.
- Proactively identify and report anomalies such as suspicious device movements, frequent repeating errors, or potential losses.
Job Requirements
- Experience: 2 to 5+ years of hands-on experience in field operations, POS/ATM support, mobile device support, telecom field engineering, or related sectors.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of POS devices, SIM card management, cellular network troubleshooting, and field coordination.
- Aptitude: Exceptional integrity, attention to detail, and a strict compliance mindset for device tracking.
- Mobility: Highly comfortable traveling across assigned states and regions for field deployment.
- Communications: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage relationships with merchants and remote technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in the fintech, agency banking, or merchant acquiring industry in Nigeria.
- Familiarity with ticketing tools, inventory management software, and basic asset tracking.
- Basic conceptual understanding of Terminal Management Systems (TMS/MDM) and Over-the-Air (OTA) updates.
Working Conditions
This is a field-heavy, execution-focused role. Due to the nature of major product rollouts and key account configurations, occasional weekend and after-hours support may be required to maintain service excellence.
