We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate professional to join our dynamic team as the Gender and Peace Building Officer. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive technical and programmatic support for the design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of critical interventions focusing on gender equality, women, peace and security (WPS), social cohesion, conflict prevention, and peacebuilding.

Position Overview

The Programme Officer, Gender and Peace Building will play a pivotal role in ensuring that gender is effectively mainstreamed across all GPD programmes and projects. Beyond project implementation, your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass programme development, proposal writing, impactful research, stakeholder engagement, capacity strengthening, and knowledge management.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical and programmatic support for gender equality and peacebuilding interventions.
• Ensure the effective mainstreaming of gender across GPD programmes and projects.
• Support proposal development, fundraising initiatives, and comprehensive report writing.
• Conduct thorough gender and conflict analyses to guide project strategies.
• Facilitate engaging trainings and foster collaborative relationships with stakeholders.

Education and Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree or HND in Peace and Conflict Studies, Gender Studies, Sociology, Political Science, International Development, Human Rights, Development Studies, Law, or a related social science discipline.

Experience Required

• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience implementing gender equality, peacebuilding, governance, protection, GBV, women empowerment, or community development programmes.
• Demonstrated experience working with NGOs, INGOs, or donor-funded projects.
• Proven ability to engage effectively with grassroots communities, government institutions, CSOs, and traditional leaders.
• Strong background in facilitating training sessions and stakeholder engagements.
• Direct experience in proposal development and high-quality report writing.

Technical Skills & Competencies

• Deep knowledge of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda, UNSCR 1325, and the Nigeria National Action Plan.
• Thorough understanding of gender analysis tools and frameworks.
• Commitment to conflict sensitivity and 'Do No Harm' approaches.
• Firm grasp of safeguarding and protection principles.
• Familiarity with Results-Based Management (RBM) and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) systems.
