About the Role
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our team in Kano as a Project Assistant (PxD/AVRR). As a global leader in migration management, IOM provides a unique platform for professionals dedicated to humanitarian work, human rights, and the sustainable socio-economic reintegration of migrants.
In this role, you will work under the guidance of the Project Officer and the National Project Officer to support the implementation and monitoring of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) interventions. You will be instrumental in strengthening local capacity at the state level to ensure that returned migrants receive the rehabilitation and support services they require to rebuild their lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and technical support for the day-to-day implementation of reintegration projects.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to assist returned migrants, including managing documentation for vulnerable cases.
- Conduct field visits to beneficiary business sites to monitor project implementation and progress.
- Maintain and update beneficiary databases (including MIMOSA) to ensure accurate reporting and evidence-based decision-making.
- Facilitate partnerships with governmental bodies, NGOs, and international stakeholders.
- Manage the distribution of travel allowances and return grants to returning migrants.
- Draft periodic and ad-hoc monitoring reports to support program development.
Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this position, you should possess the following:
- Education: A University degree in International Relations, Social Science, Economics, Migration Studies, Law, or a related field with at least two years of professional experience. Alternatively, a High School diploma with four years of relevant field experience.
- Experience: Demonstrated expertise in working with migrants or returnees and a solid understanding of social development and migration management issues.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and SharePoint) is essential. Strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and the capacity to prioritize multiple tasks are required.
